Founded by Jody Kurtz in 2013 as a Cornelius based Interior Design firm named after Jody’s
grandmother, Kathryn, and her great grandmother, Lilly, two of the hardest working women she knew.
With projects throughout the Charlotte, Lake Norman and Blowing Rock areas KLI prides itself on their
unique gift to design a variety of styles really well.
Jody’s passion for design began at an early age after exploring the homes her father and grandfather
built. Coming from a family of skilled craftsman, she quickly found this was the path that was carved out
for her and decided to pursue her calling opening the doors to Kathryn Lilly Interiors which quickly
became a sought-after brand in the Lake Norman area.
“When designing, we have one rule, never play it safe. We push our clients out of their comfort zone
because we truly believe all great designs require a unique element of surprise. When clients put their
faith in our team, that’s when the real magic happens.” Jody says.
MY VIBE
Furniture with modern lines, anchored by traditional style. Tailored, but not fussy. Hammered metals, deep saturated colors, elevated moldings, lacquered in moody hues, wallpapered ceilings, animal print and obsessed with conversation starters!
My interior must
Fabrics red wine can't ruin. Although marble will always hold a place in my heart, red wine and marble aren't friends! Don't discount the power of perfect lighting; It sets the entire mood. Luxurious linens are a great investment. After all, on average, 1/3 of your life is spent in bed. Don't save your china for a special day. Instead, choose to make everyday special.
i'm a southern girl
Growing up in the Lake Norman area, exploring homes my dad and grandfather built was the beginning of my design obsession. A fierce work ethic was instilled in me from a young age. Hard work wasn't an option, it was expected. You work hard, pray hard, and love harder. I'm not your typical business leader, I'm a firm believer you're only as good as the team you hire.

my design style
I wear mostly black so you may not be able to tell that I really love bold, colorful designs. I would say my style is very eclectic. I love anything from modern Kelly Wearstler pieces to vintage mid century modern finds.
design favorites
I love Schumacher! I think they have the coolest wallpapers and fabrics. Funky shaped furniture, bold wallpapers, and colorful accent pieces are currently on my favorites list.
ÜBER MICH
…Or in English: About me! I was born in Germany and speak fluent German. Having the chance to travel throughout my whole life has opened my mind to people, cultures, but most importantly architecture and design. I am a major homebody, but I love hanging with friends and having a cold craft beer. IPA's are my favorite!

My style
I strive for a very relaxed, organic, laid back feel with touches of nature throughout. I think it's important to bring elements of the outdoors into a design in order to keep balanced. Frank Lloyd Wright says it best "study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you."
My dream house consists of
Grasscloth wallpaper, faux leather, warm wood tones, tumbled tiles, textured linens, a palette of greens and dashes of champagne bronze.
this is me
Born right outside of Boston, graduated in New Hampshire, now a North Carolinian for almost two years! I love to create 3-D renderings for our clients to help them better visualize their space and the impact of our designs. I also have a background in construction coordination, but when I am not working you'll most likely find me painting or discovering a new trail to hike.

I'm an animal lover so my dream is probably different from many others. I don't need shiny gold or silver. I envision building a sanctuary to rescue all the animals in the world. Perhaps I'll become an animal welfare veterinarian.
Dream house
Well, of course the beach or the mountains sound lovely, however, I dream of being on a farm. Maybe I'd take a time capsule back to the early 1900's when life was a little simpler, after all we all need an escape from technology. Bring on the chickens and the vegetable garden. I would live off my land and find joy in managing it all. A sunroom is a must, that's where you'd find me after a long day's work. Now throw in a good massage once in a while, I could get used to that luxury.
about me
Family is my number one and that includes my animals. Some say they have the life. I enjoy working in my garden and mowing my lawn is my peaceful place, where I let my mind wander for another day. I'm a natural number cruncher and thrive on organization.
